If you are looking to replace missing or damaged teeth, dental implants are an excellent option. They are the most natural looking restoration option, and unlike dentures , you don't remove them for cleanings, and you can still eat the foods you love. You brush dental implants as you would your natural teeth, chew food with them, and to the untrained eye, they appear to be the teeth you were born with. That's why dental implants are the best option in dentistry outside of your natural teeth.
You can snooze through your dental procedure with gentle and safe sleep dentistry. Anxious patients can now have dental work done whilst in a light sleep with a relief of anxiety and no memory of the dental treatment. Children and adults alike can have most dental procedures performed via sleep dentistry including fillings, crowns, multiple extractions, removal of wisdom teeth and implant placements. A consultation with the anaesthetist is required to ensure patients are medically fit for sedation. Estimates for dental treatment using sleep dentistry can be provided at the time of consultation.
Orthodontics deals with the prevention and correction of irregularities in the position of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontia is the specialty of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment of improper bites and crooked teeth. Orthodontic treatment can help fix the patient’s teeth and set them in the right place. Orthodontists work on reconstructing the entire face rather than focusing only on teeth. We are pleased to announce that we have a qualified dentists that are trained in offering Myobrace and Invisalign treatment. Please call to book your FREE orthodontic consultation for children aged 2 to 14 years old.
Invisalign a virtually invisible and hygienic treatment, the Invisalign System uses an innovative approach to effectively straighten your teeth. Invisalign treatment uses our unique SMARTForce Technology to create a series of custom-made removable aligners for you and only you. All you have to do is to wear these aligners, made of a virtually invisible plastic, over your teeth to gradually move them to the ideal position.
Crowns and Veneers
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over the entire tooth to cover and restore its shape, size and strength, as well as to improve appearance. If there is insufficient natural tooth structure or a tooth is at risk of fracture, a crown may be recommended. Crowns can be fixed onto “live” teeth or after a tooth has undergone root canal treatment. When cemented into place, the crown fully encases the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Veneers are thin laminates of custom-made porcelain which are cemented over the front of your teeth. They can change the colour, size and shape of teeth that may be too big, too small or have uneven surfaces. Veneers can rectify teeth that are imperfect, discoloured, chipped or crooked so as to brighten your smile and give you as bright and as natural looking smile as you desire.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth or third molars sometimes need to be extracted because they do not fit into the available space in the mouth. This can lead to crowding of teeth or gum infections. An OPG x-ray will reveal the relationship of the wisdom teeth to their surrounding structures. Sometimes a Cone Beam CT scan may be required to check proximity of wisdom teeth to an important nerve which runs in the mandible in a three dimensional image. Depending on their complexity wisdom teeth can be extracted at Smile Ville or the dentist may have to refer the patient to a specialist.
Professional Tooth Whitening
This is the most requested procedure in cosmetic dentistry today. Whitening your teeth will make your smile appear brighter and more youthful. Our treatment is not harmful to the tooth structure nor does it weaken your teeth. We offer a range of procedures from in practice power bleaching to take home kits. During treatment avoid staining your teeth with tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. Care must be taken because crowns and restoration materials do not bleach, and in time natural teeth may need re-whitening.
Child dentistry (Paediatric) including Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS)
We participate in the new Medicare Children’s Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS). We can check if your child is eligible and how much of their benefit is available and bulk bill. It is very important that the first dental experience your child receives is positive and fun. At Smile Ville we have a gentle approach to caring for children. An exam will evaluate the growth and development of your child’s teeth and identify any decay. Encouraging and motivating advice on brushing and diet is given to both parent and child. Healthy baby teeth are important for maintaining space for the adult teeth; early dental problems can affect speech and eating. By promoting healthy teeth in your child now, you will be supporting the health and well being of your whole child into the future.
Comprehensive Examinations for all New Patients
A comprehensive examination include examining head and neck, This examination will include your masticatory muscles, jaw joint, teeth, gums, bite and screening for oral cancer. Another part of our comprehensive examination will include taking of intraoral and extra oral photos, intraoral and extra oral x-rays and in some cases mould of the teeth will be taking for further studies, if required. These components of a comprehensive exam form the foundation of good preventive care. At Smile Ville Prevention is our aim! Recall examinations are tailored to individual patient's and can be every 6 to 12 months depending on the health of your mouth.
Root Canal Treatment
A tooth that has under root canal treatment is no longer alive. The treated tooth can remain in the mouth as long as the inside of the tooth (the root canal) is cleaned, sterile and sealed. Molars generally have multiple canals, whilst incisors can have just one canal. Treated teeth often need to be reinforced with a crown to prevent fracture following treatment. Root canal treatment by our dentists at Smile Ville can alleviate suffering associated with infected or inflamed teeth – often the cause of pain, distress and other health problems. Sometimes due to the complexity of root anatomy or retreatment customers may be referred to a specialist to perform root canal.
Fillings (Tooth Colour)
At Smile Ville we only used tooth coloured filling materials to restore decayed, worn or broken teeth. Fillings are bonded to the tooth surface, the restoration is carved and polished into the desired shape, and the material is set. Care should be taken for 24-48 hours to avoid biting on the restoration whilst it is setting, so chew on the opposite side of your mouth.
Dentures (Full & Partial)
A denture is a removable prosthesis used to replace missing teeth. It sits on the mucosa (full dentures) or teeth/mucosa for partial dentures. It can be made from acrylic or metal for better fit and function. A denture must be cleaned regularly in order to maintain good oral health.
Myobrace Treatment uses myofunctional orthodontic techniques to address the poor oral habits that are the real, underlying causes of crooked teeth and uses light, intermittent forces to align the teeth. This is done through the use of a series of removable dental appliances that are worn for just 1-2 hours each day and overnight.
Personalised Treatments Plans
Every patient receives a personalised treatment plan that is centred on their needs and dental health. Schedule an appointment with Smile Ville today and discover a truly comprehensive and positive dental experience.
Regular Check-Ups, Examinations and Cleaning (Dental Hygiene)
Regular professional cleaning forms another important component of good preventive care. A hard white substance, called tartar or calculus, forms on teeth and cannot be removed by brushing. Tartar provides a place in your mouth for bacteria to live and contributes to gum disease and bad breath. Tartar can only be removed by a dental professional. Regular cleaning in our practice along with good habits at home can help you maintain healthy gums. Scaling and cleaning are recommended for most people at 6 monthly intervals. Ultrasonic scaling and hand scaling dislodge bacterial plaque and calculus that lead to periodontal (gum) disease. Stain is removed via high powered brushing and sandblasting. Your teeth will feel, taste and smell cleaner and fresher. Six monthly visits to our dentists are recommended as prevention is our aim.
Diagnostic Digital X-Rays, Intraoral Camera and OPG (Panoramic X-Ray)
X-ray images are an important diagnostic tool that helps us to identify dental decay, bone loss, infection. The OPG (extra oral x-ray or panoramic) gives a dentist an overview of the general structure of the facial skeleton and the presence and location of teeth. At Smile Ville we use digital X-rays, which have a very low radiation dose. We will only suggest taking an x-ray if we can gain information that would affect our diagnoses.
Gum Disease Treatment (Non Surgical)
Gum disease affects most people at some time during their life. It is usually caused by a build-up of plaque on teeth. There are two main stages of gum disease: * Gingivitis * Periodontitis Gingivitis Gingivitis is early gum disease and occurs when dental plaque builds up on teeth, particularly where the gum joins the tooth. Periodontitis Periodontitis is an advanced gum disease that may occur if gingivitis is not treated. The gum margin, the part of the gum that seals to the tooth, is weakened and spaces form between the tooth and the gum. These spaces are called ‘periodontal pockets.’ Bacteria become trapped in these pockets causing further inflammation (redness and swelling).
